What our customers are saying...
Have just spent a lovely one night stay at this hotel. We were made very welcome by Maureen The bedroom was newly refurbished and the bed itself was the most comfortable I have ever slept in when away from home bar none. The room was very comfortable and cosy as during the stay the weather was not very nice, but being inside it was a pleasure. En-suite bathroom was very spacious and spotless, beautifully tiled and very nice indeed. The breakfast choice was varied and should cater for everyone, the Ulster Fry was a special treat and really did set the day ahead.- Can’t believe the bed!
Next time will be more than a one night stay, perfect for Newcastle Co Down and its Promenade, the Mourne Mountains only a stones throw away and only an hour or so from Belfast.
Could not recommend this B&B any higher.
Just spent a night at The Briers lovely house in the country with wonderful views of the mountains. Lovely welcome and taken to our room which was nice. The breakfast was really good very fresh and tasty and served in a lovely room overlooking garden. The location was near enough Newcastle and very quiet ideal if you wanted to go walking in the mountains. Would definitely stay here again if back in the area.- Birthday Treat
Stayed over the period of the Irish Open, had a really great time, Maureen was a superb host sorting taxis out for our trips to the course. Rooms were excellent and the breakfast is 1st class. If you needed anything staff would do anything to get it for you. I would recommend a stay here as I will be back again.- Mr D Jones
Nestled in the heart of South Down, our 18th Century Country House provides an excellent base at the foot of the Mourne Mountains whilst still being within easy reach of Newcastle and the many activities it has to offer. Just a 15-minute walk from the town, and less than an hour from the cities of Belfast, Newry and Lisburn, the Briers is in an ideal location for walkers, wedding guests and sight-seers alike.
For the more adventurous, we offer a fantastic location to begin to explore the varied terrain around the area, with plenty of outdoor centres to help you on your way, whilst the luxurious seaweed baths and nearby seaside spas offer a less strenuous way to recharge your batteries. Combined with breath-taking views, spacious and comfortable rooms and ever-friendly service, it’ll feel like a home from home in no time!
We look forward to welcoming you to the Briers Country House, thank you for your interest.
